About Mahanga TV

RootedintheNorth.Broadcastingtotheworld.

Mahanga TV was founded to build the media institution Northern Nigeria deserves — one that carries our stories with the craftsmanship of the world's finest broadcasters, and the honesty of the people we serve.

Company Story

Born in Kano.
Built for the world.

In 2018, a small team of journalists, producers, and engineers in Kano asked a simple question: why should Northern Nigeria's stories be told by everyone except Northern Nigerians?

Mahanga TV was the answer — a premium television network designed from the ground up to serve the culture, journalism, and creative ambition of the Sahel region with international broadcast standards.

What began as a single studio has grown into a network reaching 12 million viewers monthly, with facilities in Kano and Kaduna, a mobile app on millions of phones, and partnerships with organisations from UNICEF to the BBC.

Mission & Vision

Three convictions that guide every broadcast.

Mission

Broadcast the North with rigour and pride.

To tell the story of Northern Nigeria to the world — with editorial rigour, cultural respect, and the craftsmanship of international broadcasters.

Vision

The most trusted media institution in West Africa.

To become a reference point for broadcasting on the continent — where audiences, partners, and governments turn first for truth.

Philosophy

Storytelling is stewardship.

Every frame we broadcast is a promise to the people we cover. We do not perform journalism — we practice it.

Core Values

Six commitments,
quietly held.

These are not words on a wall. They are the standards our newsroom holds itself to every day — from the morning editorial meeting to the final sign-off.

01

Editorial Integrity

Independent journalism with rigorous verification. No story airs without passing our editorial standards.

02

Cultural Respect

Programming that honours the depth of Hausa-Fulani, Kanuri, and Northern Nigerian heritage without reducing it.

03

Craftsmanship

International standards from studio design to post-production — every detail intentional.

04

Community First

Media that serves the audience before it serves advertisers, politicians, or partners.

05

Enduring Trust

Names, faces, and stories our viewers have relied on for years — built one broadcast at a time.

06

Global Ambition

A newsroom headquartered in Kano with a footprint that reaches every continent.

Broadcast Philosophy

How we think about the work of journalism.

Mahanga TV is not a content factory. We are a newsroom — a place where stories are researched, verified, crafted, and broadcast with the care they deserve.

Accuracy over speed

We would rather be right than first. Breaking news waits for verification.

Depth over noise

Long-form journalism, documentary storytelling, and programmes that reward attention.

Representation with dignity

Northern Nigeria portrayed by its own voices — never as backdrop to someone else's narrative.

Technology in service of truth

Modern tools — from HD studios to mobile delivery — used to reach audiences, not distract them.
